PetSmart markets itself as a company that cares about animals. But behind the shelves stocked with treats and toys is a disturbing reality: they sell products from Marshall Pet Products, a brand owned by Marshall BioResources—one of the most notorious animal suppliers in the world.
This is the same company that supplies dogs, cats, ferrets, pigs, guinea pigs, and more to research labs around the world. They’ve been cited again and again by federal inspectors for inhumane, negligent, and cruel conditions..
The Reality Behind the Brand

Animals at Marshall’s facilities have endured untreated injuries. Puppies have been kept in unsafe enclosures, with no protection from harm. Kittens have died after being denied basic vet care. Sanitation is so careless that ferrets were once left behind during cleaning. Their food and water sources are routinely contaminated by rusted, broken equipment.
And it gets worse. Marshall has intentionally bred animals with deformities—like oversized hearts and missing limbs—just to serve the needs of research clients.
This is the company behind some of the products on PetSmart’s shelves.
When consumers buy Marshall-branded toys or treats at PetSmart, they’re unknowingly helping fund an industry rooted in pain and profit.
Marshall makes money off animals twice: once in the lab, and again at the register.
What You Can Do
We’re calling on PetSmart to cut the cruelty and drop Marshall Pet Products.
Beagle Freedom Project has rescued animals directly from Marshall’s facilities. We’ve seen the trauma, the fear, the scars. We’ve worked with whistleblowers, reviewed documents, and obtained video footage that confirms what inspectors already know: Marshall’s cruelty isn’t an accident. It’s the business model.
Now we need your voice.
👉 Take action today by sending an email to PetSmart. Tell them clearly: stop selling Marshall Pet Products and stop supporting this cruelty.
Together, we can hold PetSmart accountable and demand that compassion—not cruelty—guides their business decisions.
