Cut The Cruelty

PetSmart and PetCo, Cut the Cruelty

PetSmart sells Marshall Pet Products. Petco goes even further—it sells Marshall Pet Products and Marshall-bred ferrets. Both come from Marshall BioResources, one of the world’s largest commercial breeders of animals for research.

USDA inspections have documented repeated animal welfare violations, inhumane conditions, and suffering at Marshall facilities. Don’t let a company linked to animal experimentation profit from your compassion.

What is Marshall BioResources

Marshall Farms, also operating as Marshall BioResources, is one of the largest suppliers of animals—including dogs, cats, ferrets, pigs, mice, and guinea pigs—to laboratories worldwide.

Investigations have documented severe cruelty and neglect at Marshall facilities, revealing animals subjected to overcrowding, chronic stress, disease outbreaks, and inadequate veterinary care. Inspectors have repeatedly cited Marshall for violating federal animal welfare regulations, noting untreated injuries, hazardous living conditions, improper food storage, and unethical breeding practices, such as intentionally breeding dogs with abnormalities like oversized hearts or missing limbs. Recent violations include a kitten euthanized due to preventable injuries after inadequate veterinary care, ferrets left behind during sanitation, rusted equipment contaminating food supplies, and unsafe enclosures causing injury risks to puppies.

Marshall also profits by selling toys, treats, and pet supplies under its consumer-facing brand, Marshall Pet Products. Many animal lovers unknowingly support Marshall’s inhumane treatment when purchasing these products.

Beagle Freedom Project regularly rescues animals who have endured tremendous suffering at Marshall’s facilities, highlighting the painful reality behind these seemingly harmless pet products. In collaboration with whistleblowers, BFP has also obtained footage, testimonies, and reports detailing Marshall’s systemic abuse.

Chewy listened. Now it’s time for PetSmart and PetCo to CUT THE CRUELTY. ✂️ Marshall Pet Products is owned by Marshall BioResources, one of the world’s largest breeders of animals for research. The scale of its operations is substantial: while Ridglan Farms can hold up to 3,000 beagles to be bred and sold to testing laboratories, Marshall BioResources’ New York facility alone can hold up to 26,000 beagles, plus pigs, cats, and ferrets, for a total capacity of up to 66,000 animals at a time. Investigations have documented serious animal welfare concerns, yet PetSmart still sells Marshall products, and PetCo sells both Marshall products and Marshall-bred ferrets. ✂️Tell PetSmart and PetCo to CutTheCruelty:
