Monthly Sniffs – Marcel

Hi everyone my name is Marcel and I want to tell you all about my life and how I came to live at Freedom Fields.

I was found outside as a baby; I was cold and all alone, and I didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t have a mama or any family; I was so scared, but someone found me and called BFP, and they stepped in and saved me.

When I arrived at Freedom Fields, I was still very scared, and I was put in a room all by myself. I could hear other cats playing and meowing outside my room. It sounded like they were having so much fun, but I did not want to go out and meet them. I was too afraid.

When I woke up the next day, I was taken to the exam room by one of the BFP staff members and I had to have an exam with the vet tech – just like when you go to the doctor for a checkup. They listened to my heart and lungs, using a stethoscope which was very shiny but also very cold brrrr. Then they poked me with a sharp needle which I did not like at all – so I gave him a little hiss, “It’s ok Marcel, this is to keep you healthy,” they said. Everyone was so gentle with me and after I even got a little lickable treat mmmm – it was delicious!

After my quarantine and checkup, I was introduced to the other cats at Freedom Fields. It was scary meeting everyone and being the new cat, just like the first day at school. I did not know if the other cats would like me or want to play with me – what if they were mean to me, I was so nervous, I just laid quietly in my cat bed and let the other cats sniff me.

Everyone was so happy to meet me and so nice they even shared their toys and wrestled with me. I love being at Freedom Fields with my new friends, I am safe, warm, loved, and I get lots of yummy treats. My next wish now that I am safe is to find a home of my very own.
