Mission Maltese

Body Cam from Stroud Police Department.
Warning graphic footage

Forced to breed in filthy wire cages stacked floor to ceiling, the dogs endured daily life amid feces, cockroaches, and ammonia so strong it scarred their lungs. Many were elderly—some as old as 12—and still being bred. Their fur was matted into painful tangles that tore at their skin. They suffered respiratory injury and severe neglect for years.

Body cam footage from the scene shows the full scale of neglect with cages packed with dogs, floors slick with excrement, and air thick with ammonia that burned the lungs of responders.

Freedom Fields

Where Healing Begins

When authorities shut down the Oklahoma puppy mill where over 400 Maltese dogs were found suffering, Beagle Freedom Project mobilized immediately. In partnership with the Humane Society of Tulsa, Freedom Fields is supporting the broader care effort and directly caring for 26 of the most vulnerable survivors—nursing mothers and their newborn puppies.

Now safe at Freedom Fields, these dogs are finally experiencing what they were denied for so long.

For the first time, they have:

  • Clean, quiet space to rest and recover without fear
  • Soft bedding, fresh food, and a place to nurse their puppies
  • Lives no longer confined to the cages of a puppy mill

They’re learning what it means to be safe. To be seen. To be cared for.
